Turn a prepared value into a scannable code

Use this general-purpose generator when you know what the QR code should contain. Enter a note, identifier or complete URL, then choose the size, margin and colors. Check the preview before placing the symbol on a document, label or screen. The tool encodes the text you enter: a web address stays an address, while plain words remain text. Separate Ali Hub tools prepare Wi-Fi, contact and other structured payloads.

What this QR code contains

A QR code is a two-dimensional symbol that represents data as a pattern of light and dark modules. This tool turns the payload, after trimming whitespace at its ends, into an SVG graphic. Encoding makes data machine-readable; it does not encrypt or hide confidential information from someone who scans the code. The code stores its payload. A static URL remains in the printed symbol even if its destination changes. This generator has no documented redirect editor or scan analytics.

How to create and check a code

1. Prepare the exact text or full URL and paste it into Payload. Include the scheme, such as https://, if you want a complete web address. 2. Choose Size for the SVG output and set Margin in modules. For printed use, allow room for a clear quiet zone around all four sides. 3. Choose a dark foreground and light background with strong contrast, then select Run to produce the preview. 4. Read the displayed payload, scan the preview with a separate reader, and test a print sample at its intended physical size before distribution.

Share a complete web address

Share a complete web address How can a visitor open a sample information page? 1. Enter the full address, set a four-module margin and run the generator. 2. Scan the preview and compare the decoded address character by character. Use the separate link tool if you want a form that validates an HTTP or HTTPS address before generation. Show a short offline note What if the message should be readable without opening a website? 1. Enter the note as plain text and generate the code. 2. Check that the reader displays the note itself. A plain-text QR can carry a compact instruction without network access, although the scanning app still determines how it presents the text. Preserve a two-line instruction Can the payload keep a meaningful line break? 1. Enter the two lines in Payload and run the generator. 2. Decode the result and verify that the newline separates the lines. Keep line endings deliberate if another system will later compare the decoded text exactly. Keep a leading zero How should a short reference number be entered? 1. Type the reference as text, including both leading zeros. 2. Scan the result and confirm all six characters appear. Identifiers should be treated as strings whenever leading zeros carry meaning. Include a query string Will a full address retain its parameters? 1. Paste the full URL without removing the ampersand or equals signs. 2. After generation, compare the decoded string with the original. An omitted character could change the destination's behavior, so inspect the exact decoded address. Print a simple inventory label Can a label carry a non-web stock code? 1. Enter the stock code and select a high-contrast color pair. 2. Generate the SVG, place it in the label design and test a physical print. Output width in pixels does not by itself determine the final size on paper; layout scale and printing resolution also matter.

Read the output before using it

The generated SVG is a visual encoding of the payload shown in the preview. Decode it with another reader and compare the complete text, including punctuation, leading zeros and line breaks. For a URL, inspect the hostname before opening it; a scannable code does not make a destination safe. A successful preview proves graphic generation, not readability on every phone or printed surface. Check a sample at its final size and under typical lighting.

Common mistakes

A missing https://, changed query mark or stray space can alter the data that a reader receives. Paste the final payload rather than a rough description of it, and verify the decoded result. Crowding artwork against the symbol, shrinking its modules or choosing similar foreground and background colors can make scanning unreliable. Keep a clear margin and test contrast and print quality. QR error correction is not a guarantee that every damaged or decorated code remains readable.

Limits and appropriate uses

The general form accepts a payload but does not verify that its text is a valid contact card, calendar event or Wi-Fi configuration. Use the corresponding structured tool when you need help preparing one of those formats. Do not put passwords or sensitive personal data in a public code: anyone who scans it may read its contents. Test the result on devices used by your audience.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put a URL in the general payload field? Yes. Paste the complete URL and then verify the decoded address. The dedicated link tool adds URL validation; this general field encodes the text you provide. Does this QR code expire? The printed pattern does not carry a built-in expiry from this generator. A website or resource named by the payload can change or disappear independently. Can I edit the destination after printing? The payload in a printed symbol is fixed. Changing where a URL leads requires control over that URL's destination or a separate redirect system, which this tool does not document. Are the contents encrypted? No. QR encoding represents data for scanning; it does not keep the payload secret from readers. What does Margin control? It sets clear space around the symbol in QR modules in the current renderer. A standard QR quiet zone is four modules on each side; leave enough clear space in the final design. Will a larger Size setting make a long payload simpler? A larger graphic gives the modules more display space, but it does not reduce the amount of data or change the code's required symbol complexity. Why did my colors fail validation? The current tool checks the contrast between the two selected colors and rejects pairs below its threshold. Choose a darker foreground and lighter background, then test the actual printed result. Is the preview enough to approve a print run? No. Scan a sample at the intended paper size, on the actual material and under typical lighting. Check that the decoded payload exactly matches the source.

How the generator prepares the symbol

Payload The supplied string is the QR content. The general form does not turn arbitrary words into a link or validate a destination's trustworthiness. Preserve significant case, punctuation and line breaks when preparing it. Graphic settings The renderer uses the chosen size, module margin and foreground and background colors to make an SVG. These settings affect appearance, not the intended payload. A contrast check rejects color combinations below the current tool's threshold. Readability Longer or more complex data can require a denser symbol. Capacity depends on data type, version and error correction, not a universal character count. Test the rendered symbol for your use. The current tool accepts 2–16 margin modules, while DENSO WAVE describes four clear modules on each side for a standard QR quiet zone. Choose a suitable margin for the final presentation rather than assuming a pixel value equals a module count. The current runtime trims leading and trailing whitespace. Its 4096-character JavaScript input limit is a validation rule, not a promise that every such payload fits in a QR symbol or scans reliably.
