Decode a QR code from an image
Use this decoder to select an image file that contains a QR code and recover the text encoded in that symbol. The result is shown as text so you can inspect it before deciding what to do with it.
The workflow is file based. It does not request camera access, open a decoded URL automatically, send a message, connect to Wi-Fi, or import contact and calendar data on your behalf.
What a QR decoder does
A QR scanner examines the pixels in an image, locates a QR symbol, and decodes the data stored in its modules. The payload may be a URL, plain text, a Wi-Fi configuration string, a vCard, calendar data, or another text format chosen by the creator.
Decoding is not the same as validating the payload. A readable URL may still be deceptive, and a readable configuration string does not prove that the credentials work. Treat the displayed value as data to review.
Decode and review an image
1. Prepare a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image with the complete QR symbol visible and in focus.
2. Wybierz plik obrazu. Runtime odrzuca nieobsługiwane typy i obrazy większe niż 5 MB.
3. Start the scan and wait for the decoded result or a clear error message.
4. Read the returned text carefully, including its punctuation, capitalization, line breaks, and scheme such as https://.
5. If the payload contains a link or an instruction, verify it independently before taking any external action.
Website address
Website address
Read a QR code that points to a public website.
1. Choose the image file website-qr.png.
2. Run the QR decode and wait for the decoded result to appear.
3. Read the displayed payload as text, then decide separately whether it is safe to copy or visit.
The example describes the text recovered from a prepared image. A decoded payload is evidence of what the symbol contains; it does not prove that a destination is trustworthy or that an external action has been performed.
Plain text note
Extract a short note from a printed QR card.
1. Choose the image file note-qr.jpg.
2. Run the QR decode and wait for the decoded result to appear.
3. Read the displayed payload as text, then decide separately whether it is safe to copy or visit.

Wi-Fi configuration
Read a QR code containing a Wi-Fi connection string.
1. Choose the image file wifi-card.webp.
2. Run the QR decode and wait for the decoded result to appear.
3. Read the displayed payload as text, then decide separately whether it is safe to copy or visit.

Contact card
Inspect a QR code containing a vCard.
1. Choose the image file contact-card.png.
2. Run the QR decode and wait for the decoded result to appear.
3. Read the displayed payload as text, then decide separately whether it is safe to copy or visit.

Event details
Read calendar text from an event poster.
1. Choose the image file event-poster.jpg.
2. Run the QR decode and wait for the decoded result to appear.
3. Read the displayed payload as text, then decide separately whether it is safe to copy or visit.

Non-URL identifier
Read an inventory identifier from a label.
1. Choose the image file asset-label.webp.
2. Run the QR decode and wait for the decoded result to appear.
3. Read the displayed payload as text, then decide separately whether it is safe to copy or visit.

Interpret the decoded result
The decoded text is the payload found in the QR image. Compare it with the expected source when you have one, and pay attention to lookalike domains, unexpected punctuation, encoded characters, and hidden line breaks.
A successful result means the symbol was readable. It does not establish who created it, whether a website is safe, whether a phone number belongs to a person, or whether an external application will accept the data.
Common decoding mistakes
Uploading a screenshot or crop that cuts off the QR corners can leave the decoder without enough structural information. Use the full symbol with a clear blank margin where possible.
Treating a decoded URL as trusted content is risky. Review the domain and scheme before opening it, and never enter credentials merely because a QR code asks you to do so.
Limits and special cases
The decoder needs a supported image file and a QR symbol that is readable at the supplied resolution. It may fail on blurred, damaged, distorted, very small, low-contrast, or heavily decorated symbols.
Raporty narzędzi dekodowane dane; nie gwarantują bezpieczeństwa miejsca przeznaczenia, nie potwierdzają tożsamości, nie łączą się z siecią, nie importują danych ani nie wykonują działań sugerującychd by the payload. Camera scanning and automatic URL opening are not part of this workflow.
Frequently asked questions
Can this tool scan a QR code from an image file?
Yes. Choose a supported image file containing a visible QR symbol. The decoder attempts to read the image and presents the recovered value as text.
Does it use my camera?
No camera access is available in this workflow. Use an image file instead; the tool does not start a camera stream.
Will a decoded link open automatically?
No. A decoded link is shown as text and is not opened automatically. Review the address and choose any follow-up action yourself.
Which image types are supported?
The runtime accepts PNG, JPEG, and WebP images, subject to the documented 5 MB file limit. Other formats or oversized files are rejected before decoding.
Can it read more than one QR code in one image?
The decoder is described for a QR image and returns a decoded result when it can read one symbol. Do not assume that multiple symbols will all be extracted.
Does a successful scan prove that the content is safe?
No. Decoding only reveals the payload. Treat links, contact details, Wi-Fi credentials, and other instructions as untrusted until you verify them.
What happens if the image cannot be decoded?
The tool reports that the selected image could not be decoded. Try a sharper, well-lit image with the full symbol visible and enough quiet margin.
Are uploaded images stored permanently?
The content contract does not establish a permanent storage policy. Avoid placing sensitive images in the tool and review the applicable privacy notice before using it for confidential material.
How QR decoding is interpreted
Image input
The tool receives the selected image file and checks the file type and size before attempting a decode. A file path or name is not itself a QR payload; the symbol must be present in the image pixels.
QR decoding
The decoder searches the image for a readable QR pattern and extracts the encoded characters. Blur, glare, cropping, low contrast, or a missing quiet margin can prevent recognition.
Text result
When decoding succeeds, the result contains the recovered text and the detected QR format. The interface displays the value for review rather than treating it as a command.
This content describes image-file scanning. It does not assume camera support, server-side storage, link safety checks, product lookup, or automatic actions that the page does not establish.
