Create a WhatsApp chat link

Use this tool to prepare a QR code that opens a WhatsApp conversation with a specified phone number. Enter the number in international format and, if useful, add a message that the visitor can review before sending. The result is a link encoded in a QR code. A scan does not send a message, add a contact, or prove that the number has a WhatsApp account. The person scanning the code still chooses whether to open WhatsApp and send anything. Review the number and message carefully before publishing the code.

What a WhatsApp QR code contains

The code contains a WhatsApp click-to-chat URL. The phone number is placed in the URL as digits with its country code, without spaces, brackets, or a leading plus sign. An optional message is percent-encoded so spaces and punctuation travel safely in the link. This is a static QR code. It does not create a WhatsApp account, authenticate WhatsApp Web, reveal a private profile, or provide analytics. Anyone who can scan the code may see the encoded number and message, so use a number intended for that purpose.

Create and check the code

1. Choose a phone number that is authorized to receive the intended WhatsApp conversations and include its country code. 2. Enter digits only in the phone field. Remove spaces, parentheses, dashes, and the leading plus sign while preserving the country code. 3. Write an optional opening message. Keep private information and secrets out of a code that will be displayed publicly. 4. Generate the QR code and read the displayed result. Confirm that the number and decoded link match your intended destination. 5. Scan a test copy with a compatible device. WhatsApp may ask the scanner to confirm the chat, and the scanner must send the message manually.

Customer support

Customer support Open a support chat without printing the phone number as plain text. 1. Enter 15551234567 in the phone field. 2. Enter the message: Hello, I need help with my order. 3. Generate the code, decode a test copy, and confirm the destination before sharing it. The phone number is represented in international digits, while the message is encoded as the URL text parameter. A successful scan still depends on the device, app, and destination account. Cafe reservations Let guests start a reservation request from a table card. 1. Enter 442079460018 in the phone field. 2. Enter the message: Hi, can I reserve a table for two tonight? 3. Generate the code, decode a test copy, and confirm the destination before sharing it. The phone number is represented in international digits, while the message is encoded as the URL text parameter. A successful scan still depends on the device, app, and destination account. Event registration Collect registration requests from a poster. 1. Enter 919876543210 in the phone field. 2. Enter the message: Hello, I would like to register for the workshop. 3. Generate the code, decode a test copy, and confirm the destination before sharing it. The phone number is represented in international digits, while the message is encoded as the URL text parameter. A successful scan still depends on the device, app, and destination account. Delivery updates Give a customer a prepared status question. 1. Enter 61234567890 in the phone field. 2. Enter the message: Hi, I am asking about delivery status for order A-204. 3. Generate the code, decode a test copy, and confirm the destination before sharing it. The phone number is represented in international digits, while the message is encoded as the URL text parameter. A successful scan still depends on the device, app, and destination account. Sales inquiry Open a sales conversation with a clear request. 1. Enter 81312345678 in the phone field. 2. Enter the message: Hello, please send the current catalog. 3. Generate the code, decode a test copy, and confirm the destination before sharing it. The phone number is represented in international digits, while the message is encoded as the URL text parameter. A successful scan still depends on the device, app, and destination account. Bilingual message Use a non-Latin opening message and verify its encoded URL. 1. Enter 971501234567 in the phone field. 2. Enter the message: مرحبا، أود معرفة ساعات العمل. 3. Generate the code, decode a test copy, and confirm the destination before sharing it. The phone number is represented in international digits, while the message is encoded as the URL text parameter. A successful scan still depends on the device, app, and destination account.

Interpret the result

The decoded text should be an https://wa.me/ link containing the intended international phone number and, when provided, a text parameter. Compare the decoded value with the original inputs instead of relying only on the visual appearance of the QR symbol. If the scan opens a different number, shows broken text, or cannot start a conversation, check the country code, punctuation, URL encoding, and whether the recipient uses WhatsApp. Device and app behavior can vary.

Common mistakes

Entering a national number without a country code can send scanners to the wrong destination. Remove formatting punctuation but do not remove meaningful digits. Treating the prefilled text as an automatic message is another common error. The text is only a draft until the person using WhatsApp reviews and sends it. Also avoid placing passwords, private customer data, or one-time codes in a public QR payload.

Limits and special cases

The tool creates a QR payload and does not send messages, validate ownership of the number, guarantee that WhatsApp is installed, or confirm delivery. The destination number and message remain visible to anyone who decodes the link. The code is static. Changing the phone number or opening text requires generating and distributing a new code. Test printed or resized copies under the lighting and distance in which they will be used.

Frequently asked questions

Does scanning send the WhatsApp message automatically? No. Scanning can open a chat with a prefilled draft, but the person using WhatsApp must review and send the message. What format should the phone number use? Use the international country code followed by the national number. Remove spaces, parentheses, dashes, and the leading plus sign from the value entered in the tool. Does the code prove that the number has WhatsApp? No. It only encodes a chat URL. WhatsApp may show that the number is unavailable when the link is opened. Can I include Arabic or another non-Latin language? Yes, when the tool accepts the text. The characters should be percent-encoded in the URL and should be checked by decoding a test result. Is this a WhatsApp Web login or pairing code? No. It is a click-to-chat link. It does not log in, pair a browser, or grant access to an account. Can I change the message after printing the QR code? No. The printed code contains the original URL. Create and distribute a new code when the number or message changes. Can I put a private customer number in a public code? Only if that disclosure is intended and authorized. Anyone who scans the code can decode its destination and any prefilled text. Why does a scan fail even though the QR looks clear? Check the number format, the encoded URL, lighting and print size, and whether the device has a compatible QR reader and WhatsApp. Test the exact copy you plan to publish.

How the link is built

Phone input The tool uses the phone value as the destination identifier. International formatting matters: the country code is required, and punctuation is removed from the encoded number. Optional message The message becomes the text parameter of the click-to-chat URL. Spaces, line breaks, ampersands, and non-Latin characters must be percent-encoded once so the URL keeps its intended meaning. QR payload and scan The generator encodes the completed URL as QR data. A compatible scanner opens or offers the link; WhatsApp and the user control the next action. A WhatsApp chat link is not the same as a WhatsApp Web pairing code or profile QR. It starts a possible chat with the supplied number and does not grant account access.
